An
aerial tuning unit with a variable reaction coil in the base. The cylindrical
body is made of paxolin, the switch mechanism is solid brass and it
has heavily lacquered brass fittings. The coil windings are protected
by celluloid, the fascia panel is removeable and the whole unit is of
a high quality. It covers the medium and long wave bands and the range
of coverage is dependant on the variable capacitor used across it. It
has an aperiodic aerial winding and a centre tapped coil that is switched.
The reaction
coil rotates through 180 degrees by turning the top dial on the fascia
panel.
The R.I.
& Varley Tuner catalogue details this unit and gives specifications
and example circuits and can be downloaded from the radio literature
section.
